Hearts and flowers (oh, and cake!)

The Vintage Valentines continue with these pretty fruit cakes.  Each uniquely decorated and boxed ready to be given to the one you love!

There all unashamedly girly with a hint of vintage or retro about them.

Pink roses and polka dot, red roses and gingham.  There's even a slightly Oriental one with lotus flowers and red and gold ribbon.

I initially went for the traditional red and white theme, with tonnes of hearts and flowers. But I then drifted towards the more vintage florals that you see a lot on fabrics at the moment.

These five cakes are currently residing in the window of Look What Mum's Made on Gillygate in York and can be bought directly from there.  They will also be stocking my Vintage Valentine biscuits as of the 8th February.  Also available are some limited edition Valentines Teabag Greetings.

If you're looking for something in particular (after all Valentines Day is the time for that personal romantic gesture), feel free to contact me as I will happily recreate or adapt designs as you wish.

Go on, spoil the one you love this Valentines Day!

Pretty as a picture....

It's been a busy weekend but it's great to be getting back into the swing of things now that the festivities (and all of the Winter bugs - touch wood) are out of the way.  We had two bookings for this weekend; one was a Mr Happy cake and matching cupcakes for a 1st birthday party and the other was pretty pink cupcakes for a 40th celebration

The 40th was held at The Mansion House in York (http://www.mansionhouseyork.co.uk/) and comprised a lavish vintage afternoon tea hosted by Yorkshire Teas (http://www.classiccrockeryhire.co.uk/) followed by a chocolate making workshop in the Mansion House kitchens, led by Little Pretty Things (http://www.littleprettything.co.uk/)

My part was relatively small in the grand scheme of things, but I was thrilled with the stunning photographs taken on the day by Robert Nemeti (http://www.nemetiphotos.com/home.html).  I'm trying to think whether I can concoct a suitable reason to host my own vintage tea party in this stunning venue!

I really hope to collaborate more with local small businesses, as together truly unique and intricately lavish experiences can be created.  I might just book an event to celebrate the fact that it's nearly the end of January, or because it's Monday, or that the sun's finally out..... Who wants to come?

Vintage Valentine Biscuits

I'm so excited about these beautiful biscuits!  Using vintage Valentines cards printed onto edible icing sheets I've made these super cute heart-shaped biscuits.  Ideal as a treat for that special someone.

There are a variety of designs, each with their own distinct sentiment.

I love the innocence of some of these images.

Classic romance.

Too cute for words.

How can anyone resist?

These can be created as cupcakes too, so if you think your loved one would prefer a half dozen vintage Valentine cupcakes just ask!  Email me at curiositeashop@gmail.com.

These biscuits will be available to buy from Look What Mum's Made on Gillygate in York from 8th February and are also available to order via my Etsy shop which can be found at:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/curiositeashop

Orders need to be placed before 7th February to avoid disappointment and to ensure the biscuits reach you in time for Valentine's Day.
